GaryP1007 Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Anyone know of a flight school or other that will has a Mooney as part of its fleet? Eastern US is preferred. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Don't tell me someone's telling you to go get 10-25 hours of Retract/make model time so you can get insured. They're lying. Quote
jetdriven Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 for the 3-5K it costs to rent the Mooney to get your insurance, you can buy two years worth of policies as a 100 hour PPL with no instrument rating or retract time. Quote
Hank Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Sure, he's insurable, but a Complex Endorsement and some time will make the insurance cheaper. Mine with neither was horrible the first year . . . but that was before Mooneyspace existed [2007]. Quote

sapientia Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I will be in the same boat in a few months as I will be considering a Mooney purchase but want to get a feel for one before I make the decision. There is a place out in Las Vegas that rents a Mooney Rocket. When the time comes I may go out there to fly it since a Rocket is my first choice. Quote
kris_adams Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 LZU just outside of Atlanta rents a 201 Quote
Shadrach Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 No one on the field with a Mooney that you can split expenses with on their next joy ride? Quote
Z W Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Florida Flight Training Center at Venice, Florida (KVNC) has a C model available for rent. Last I checked it was somewhere around $150/hour wet. Manual gear and flaps, for the full experience. Quote
N601RX Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I saw this on barnstormers. It would come out to $175 hr including CFII COMPLEX ENDORSEMENT TRAINING • $1,400 • AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY • One day course. 8 hours duel Mooney 20F. Your location added fee. Extra hours also available. • Contact Greg McCabe - WEST MICHIGAN FLYING CLUB, Owner - located MUSKEGON, MI USA • Telephone: 231-769-0526 . • Posted January 5, 2012 Quote
John Pleisse Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Freeway Airport (Maryland-inside the DC ADIZ) usually has an F or a 201 on leaseback. They are also a MSC. You would probably only need a short check out. I don't know what the hourly is. Call and ask for Stan... he'll know immediately. Quote

DrBill Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 I loooked for the same reason prior to my purchase. Then a local 20C owner took me up, and the mechanic let me sit in an 20F he had in for annual. I was sold. Bought my 20E and that was 30 hrs ago. BILL Quote
