N9405V Posted December 16, 2021 Report Posted December 16, 2021 Does the 830 show fuel available in each tank or just total fuel available in the aircraft? I’ve been looking through the specs and I can’t find the answer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Skates97 Posted December 16, 2021 Report Posted December 16, 2021 Just total remaining based on what you had as a start value and what it is showing as used. There is no connection from the JPI to the fuel senders. Quote
jaylw314 Posted December 16, 2021 Report Posted December 16, 2021 This ^^^. It also means you don't get fuel information without a compatible fuel flow sensor. Quote
Unit74 Posted December 16, 2021 Report Posted December 16, 2021 I agree. I was researching this recently because I want to put in Cies senders. No dice. My JPI EDM-830 won’t display fuel levels. Of course, it will show fuel used and fuel remaining. But no way to tell which tank said fuel resides in. Quote

In this case… There are fuel gages compatible with Cies senders… Get all the fuel level detail you want without having to update your engine monitor… Kind of gives you a few steps in the right direction… on the way to the big step of having a primary level engine monitor… Best regards, -a- Quote
Unit74 Posted December 17, 2021 Report Posted December 17, 2021 Right. But if I’m gonna go down that road, I’ll bite the bullet and go EIS on my G3X. Trying to do it on the cheap is a tough nut to crack. Quote

Trying to do it on the cheap is a tough nut to crack. Although EIS TXi or equivalent on the G3X is a great option, I suggest trading in the 830 for at least a 900 or 930. For redundancy…if your G3X craps the sheets, you won’t lose engine data. You’ll put nearly an equal amount of money into EIS, so for that outlay, I’d at least build in some redundancy. The panel space shouldn’t be an issue at that point…you’re better off going for the redundancy. Did I mention redundancy? ;-) Quote
ZuluZulu Posted December 17, 2021 Report Posted December 17, 2021 It shows you whatever you told it the tanks have in total, minus whatever it measured via fuel flow since then. Quote
