N601RX Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 I made a pair of jacks for my Mooney today. They have 4 legs with leveling bolts, our hanger floor is not very level. I will machine out some safety locking collars tomorrow and paint. They fit the Mooney nicley and are very stable. The materials cost about $75 each Quote
DonMuncy Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 Nice looking jack. Good work. Quote
AmigOne Posted December 25, 2011 Report Posted December 25, 2011 I got a couple of jacks (can't remember the brand now) when I bought my Ranger but they don't have the tip that rests against the wing. Do you kow where I can buy them and exactly what they are called?. Thanks, Jose Quote
DonMuncy Posted December 25, 2011 Report Posted December 25, 2011 Do you mean "jack points" that screw into the wing for the jack to push against. Quote
jpace1 Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 Nice work! What is the make/model of the jack you're using? Quote

DonMuncy Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 Where did you get the safety collar. Did you weld directly to the jack. Quote

DonMuncy Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 I envy you for having the equipment to machine the collars, the knowledge to be able to do it, and the smarts to calculate the load bearing capability. Quote
N601RX Posted December 27, 2011 Author Report Posted December 27, 2011 Thanks. I was very lucky to have some very talented 30+ year tool and die makers at a previous job take the time to learn me how to run the equipment. I was a new engineer just out of college and they saw I had an interest in that kind of stuff. I slowly picked up used pieces of equipment here and there or just took whatever was being thrown away. Next thing I know I have a well equip machine shop. Quote
