Philip France 13 Posted November 20, 2021 Report Posted November 20, 2021 Hello I am installing in my M20J 24V 1993 MSE : G3X with EIS engine instruments, and will also connect to fuel tanks in the wing. is there any recommendation for wing fuel gauges? can i connect the ones installed when the plane was build? Thanks in advance, Philip Quote
PT20J Posted November 21, 2021 Report Posted November 21, 2021 I just had a G3X installed in my 1994 M20J. You can use the original senders. However, I decided to replace them with CiES digital senders. My left outboard was beginning to intermittently act up and I figured they were all getting pretty old and the rheostats do wear out. amillet Posted November 21, 2021 Report Posted November 21, 2021 @PT20J Skip, when do we get to see photos of the new panel? Quote

as350 Posted November 23, 2021 Report Posted November 23, 2021 That panel looks very clean and well thought out. 1 Quote

Skip I agree with Skip! We currently have a V-Tail customer here that is worried about his fuel gauges that seem to "bounce" during flight and when we installed a different engine monitor with digital readout of fuel levels, he chose to not get new senders. That causes an issue most of the time due to the age of them and the speed in which the newer readouts react to changes. It is a common issue and if you are spending the large amount for the display, what is feeding it should be newer and "higher end" as well for accuracy. The cost is relatively moot as it is going to give you more accurate readings for a longer period of time. Quote
apriav Posted November 26, 2021 Report Posted November 26, 2021 I have installed many monitoring systems, and every time we didn't install CiES fuel level transmitters the customer came back for the upgrade. In attitude changes and turbulence the low fuel RED light would come on, and wife's don't like RED low fuel lights. Quote
bmcconnaha Posted November 27, 2021 Report Posted November 27, 2021 Having Greg @Baker Avionics install CIES senders with my dual g3x setup when he does it. I tried using OEM senders with a JPI in my 182 I used to own. Not worth it. Calibration didn’t go well, fuel gauge was still not that accurate, and I got the occasional annoying mismatch warning. All remedied with new senders. Quote
