Does anybody know if it is possible to replace the rod ends on the MLG links like it is on the NLG links? Ive got a rear link, PN 550009-000 with a shot rod end bearing (from a 78J but I think it is common on most of the pre-80s Mooneys). Not sure what the rod end PNs are as the Parts Catalog doesn't list them separately.

I’ve never seen a break down of the parts that make up some Mooney push rods or door links.  Some have the rod end bearing welded directly to the tube, others are secured with a pair of roll pins, others are adjustable.  You may be able to find the rod end and have it welded to the old tube after removing the worn one.

What do you use for the ones that are fastened with roll pins?   I've not been able to sort that out yet.

Good info, thanks Clarence. . The rod end I am looking for appears welded.  I think I'll keep looking around for a used one.

Those rod ends as well as the roll pins are available from Mooney.  You remove the old rod end, fit and align the new rod end, drill the holes and tap in the new roll pins.  It has to be done with some care, drilling the holes from each side using the hole in the tube as a guide.  If you drill straight through and are mis-aligned you ruin the tube.

Most of these pinned rod ends have the outside diameter turned on a lathe to fit the inside diameter of the tube.

Another possibility is buying a piece of 4130 steel tubing, tapping a thread in each end and using threaded rod end bearings on both ends.
