philiplane Posted October 3, 2021 Report Posted October 3, 2021 If it's available for the Mooney, this is the composite prop that you want: https://gami.com/props/props.php Quote

The same prop is used on a Diamond DA40, but with a 76" diameter. Edited October 3, 2021 by philiplane Quote
A64Pilot Posted October 3, 2021 Report Posted October 3, 2021 The three blade composite was available for my Maule as well, but at least then sit down when you price it. Quote
dlthig Posted October 4, 2021 Report Posted October 4, 2021 Below is from Socata.org forum I installed a 3 blade MT prop when I sent Engine out to Victor aviation for complete rebuild. They actually send you a video when they balance the crankshaft showing how out of balance crankshaft is in current condition and then video after they have balanced the crank. They advised that this is especially critical when going to 3 blade prop. I also had prop Dynamically balanced. I have experienced no unusual vibration and find the engine runs very smooth. Haven't noticed a reduction in speed but noticed increase in climb rate. 1 Quote
FlybyNite Posted December 27, 2021 Report Posted December 27, 2021 Has anyone done a volume(dB) in their cab before and after? It's a YMMV, but at least it's a measurement one can compare. Trying to justify new prop VS overhaul the 2 blade McCauley Quote
