jghyde Posted September 9, 2021 Report Posted September 9, 2021 McFarlane Aviation Products sells stuff for Mooneys and other older airplanes (to keep 'em flying). They posted a photo of a Diamond DA50 RG on their Facebook wall. Lots of rumors swirling around about Diamonds being sold in the US (Diamond claimed lots of orders for the DA50 at KOSH this year). Hard to manufacture airplanes in Austria to deliver to the U.S. I heard the DA50 is getting its FAA certification soon. Is there a Diamond in Kerrville's future? https://www.facebook.com/groups/2226961823/permalink/10158469350116824/ Quote
JWJR Posted September 9, 2021 Report Posted September 9, 2021 I believe they have a manufacturing facility in London Ontario. Not far from Detroit. The fellow I bought my Mooney from was a US distributor for Diamonds.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted September 9, 2021 Report Posted September 9, 2021 The forward visibility looks kind of bad. It looks like the pilots eyes are even with the top of the windshield. If I win one in the AOPA airplane sweepstakes, I’ll probably keep it. Quote
toto Posted September 9, 2021 Report Posted September 9, 2021 Since the DA50 shares an airframe with the DA62, I'm very curious to see how their SEP vs MEP sales play out. They're trying to breathe new life into the light twin market, which is obviously far less crowded than the single engine market. Quote
AerostarDriver Posted September 9, 2021 Report Posted September 9, 2021 Diamond has clamed that they they will be standing up a production line in the Ontario factory providing US market demand holds. That being said, 1.4-1.6M is a lot of money for a single engine piston, I guess they are going after guys looking to by a Matrix/M350 vs a SR22T. Quote
