whiskytango Posted December 17, 2020 Report Posted December 17, 2020 After a prolonged period of hand flying (thanks Century) I am aware that my K model does not fly straight, and there is a noticeable effort required to stay level in the roll axis. I want to correct this problem before getting a GFC-500 installed. I know I could fly to Texas and have DMax solve the problem, but I was wondering if there is a Mooney A&P in the Southeast who is good at this type of work. 1 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted December 17, 2020 Report Posted December 17, 2020 It isn't rocket science to fix a heavy wing. You can either adjust the flap stops, or trim (bend) the aileron trailing edges. It is always good to level the ailerons first. BTW, this cannot be done with travel boards, it requires test flights. 3 Quote
flynboy Posted December 17, 2020 Report Posted December 17, 2020 During my annual this year, AGL Aviation noticed my rudder rigging was off and adjusted it. They're over in Morganton, NC a little ways from you, but I highly recommend. 2 Quote
RobertGary1 Posted December 17, 2020 Report Posted December 17, 2020 I second the caution of putting travel boards on it unless it’s really bad. The boards are great as a starting point when you install a control surface but you have to fly it to know how to trim it. You’re probably already closer to true than the travel boards will get you. 1 Quote

Parker_Woodruff Posted December 17, 2020 Report Posted December 17, 2020 AGL is a great option just like Maxwell or SWTA. 1 Quote
Guest Posted December 18, 2020 Report Posted December 18, 2020 I’ll be the odd man out here. I wouldn’t take it to anyone who doesn’t have rigging boards and certainly wouldn’t let them touch it. It’s not rocket science but proper tools are required. Clarence Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted December 18, 2020 Report Posted December 18, 2020 Anyone can make a Mooney fly straight, but those without rigging boards will also make the plane 3 knots slower. 1 Quote
