After a prolonged period of hand flying (thanks Century) I am aware that my K model does not fly straight, and there is a noticeable effort required to stay level in the roll axis.   I want to correct this problem before getting a GFC-500 installed.  I know I could fly to Texas and have DMax solve the problem, but I was wondering if there is a Mooney A&P in the Southeast who is good at this type of work.

It isn't rocket science to fix a heavy wing. You can either adjust the flap stops, or trim (bend) the aileron trailing edges. It is always good to level the ailerons first. BTW, this cannot be done with travel boards, it requires test flights.

During my annual this year, AGL Aviation noticed my rudder rigging was off and adjusted it.  They're over in Morganton, NC a little ways from you, but I highly recommend.

I second the caution of putting travel boards on it unless it’s really bad. The boards are great as a starting point when you install a control surface but you have to fly it to know how to trim it. You’re probably already closer to true than the travel boards will get you.

Thanks, I will give them a call

I’ll be the odd man out here.  I wouldn’t take it to anyone who doesn’t have rigging boards and certainly wouldn’t let them touch it.  It’s not rocket science but proper tools are required.
