Thanks for sharing ur data gentlemen!

@Igor_U Was your case welded, or did you exchange it?

Just for a data point, I had my case overhauled and welded due to a crack at the parting flange. It was on the right side case half and began at the second bolt boss behind the generator pad. It propagated from the outer bolt boss upwards into the case. Impossible to ignore as it delivered oil directly to the top side of the heat muff making for a smokey shutdown. CrankCase Services  just outside Tulsa did the overhaul. They repaired the crack and beefed up known weak spots during overhaul. I hung the engine in early 2010. It’s been tight as a drum ever since. At that time the case overhaul cost $800. I’m sure it’s quite a bit more now.

Martin,

I was told the case was not repairable and I went with Lycoming factory rebuilt engine.

BTW, I was told this is a typical weak spot for the old Lycoming cases. My engine was original to the plane and built in 1966. New engine has an reinforced case in that area by the Cylinder 2.

Was your original a narrow or wide deck case?
