Bob R Posted May 17, 2020 Report Posted May 17, 2020 Does anyone have good patterns? I checked with Gee Bee but he does not have them. A good illustration would be useful as well. Bob Quote
carusoam Posted May 18, 2020 Report Posted May 18, 2020 Do you have good-ish old ones to use as a template? Check the parts catalog to help with your search... GB is as skilled as it gets at making new patterns... And of course there are things like openings around the starter and alternator that may have been changed since new... Getting the new ones installed may have some interesting way of replacing the big old existing staples... PP thoughts only, not a mechanic... Best regards, -a- Quote

Make sure that your engine mounts are in good condition, old worn saggy mount affect the sealing of the tapes. I would remove the old seals from the metal, then reinstall the cowls to get an ideal of how wide to make the new tapes. Make them wider than you think so you’ll have more material in contact with the cowls. Cut the materiel in wide strips, hold it against the metal and trace the shape of the metal on to the tape. Cut the material to match the curved profile metal, rivet it on with either large area pop rivets or AN squeeze rivets and washers. Clarence Quote
