Ibra Posted October 28, 2019 Report Posted October 28, 2019 Took 2 friends for a 30min UV session overhead the airport at 5000ft while under it was 800ft overcast grey dark day Quote
skydvrboy Posted October 28, 2019 Report Posted October 28, 2019 Every month I drive 20 minutes west to my hangar, get in the plane, and fly 20 minutes east to go to our aviator's association meeting instead of just driving the 20 minutes to the other airport. It's just an excuse to fly. Quote
steingar Posted October 28, 2019 Report Posted October 28, 2019 When I won my Cherokee my then chair flew me to Oshkosh in his Skylane to pick it up. Said he, "a really good excuse to fly, and how often does one of my pals win an airplane?" Quote

My kids used to fill those up on long flights. At one point we ran out of extras over Mexico and I had to overboard the contents out the pilot window. -Robert Quote
INA201 Posted October 28, 2019 Report Posted October 28, 2019 We are fortunate to have Triple Tree nearby. When there is a fly in there we drive the 20 minutes(every airport seems to be 20 minutes)to the airport to get the plane. Flying the "arrival procedures,' etc takes a good thirty more minutes. We could drive there in thirty but the Mooney would be disappointed if we left her in the hangar. 1 Quote
animalmover Posted November 2, 2019 Report Posted November 2, 2019 45 min flight to Buc-ee’s for a Frito pie burrito and I’d do it again. Quote
67 m20F chump Posted November 2, 2019 Report Posted November 2, 2019 I have the opposite story. When I was young CFI one of my students got his hands on his bosses T34. I was young and stupid and dating a smoken hot blonde. The choice was T34 or a night of low moral standards. It’s been over 20 years and I have never had the chance to get inside a T34 again. I dated the blonde for 5 years but I still think about the T34. 1 Quote
ohdub Posted November 2, 2019 Report Posted November 2, 2019 When I need an excuse to fly, I'll fly to an airport with cheaper gas that is a 1/2 hour away and fill up. I also will fly 15 minutes to Aircraft Spruce's Canadian location just to "save" the shipping charges. Quote
