macanimal Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 (edited) Hello all, I found a Turn and Bank from a Mooney (has a Mooney Logo decal behind the glass) which is 24V. I thought all Mooneys were 12v. Can someone set me straight? Thanks in advance.... macanimal Edited October 25, 2018 by macanimal Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 There are quite a few 28V Mooneys. Pictures of the instrument would help. Quote

Sigma-Tek will not overhaul the old Garwin badged units but someone else might. The bezel on my OE Garwin AI failed back in August. Sigma-Tek gave me nearly $400 on trade for a new Sigma-Tek 5000 series. direct replacement. Mooneys come in both 12 and 24v varieties depending on model year and model. carusoam Posted October 25, 2018 Report Posted October 25, 2018 If you are using it for a decoration around the house, it will look very nice either way... If you intend to use a TnB as a back-up in bumpy IMC...read on... The airplane world went 24V somewhere along the way... Lots of weight saved using smaller diameter wires everywhere... Mooney followed along. Where you run into some challenges... a 24V ship may have step down transformers for various devices from cigarette lighters to aged transponders... In 94, The first Ovations were 24V.... Prior to that some M20Ks were 24V... Keep in mind instruments can have their faces repainted or swapped pretty easily... matching part numbers is the best way to identify the device... TnBs are falling out of panels at record paces with all the new low cost electric AIs that have become available... a TnB is generations old compared to a TC and they both make terrible back-up devices in bumpy weather, as they age... PP thoughts only, not a Mooney historian. Best regards, -a- Quote
Robert C. Posted October 28, 2018 Report Posted October 28, 2018 In the G1000 world they drive the STech 55x AP. Quite funky because you don’t see them. They are behind that MFD panel and the T&B indicator is only visible when you remove the screen. Robert 1 Quote
