Question about Sales and Use tax in TX

Hey any of you guys have any insight as to Sales and Use tax in TX?  I am TDY here and was thinking about having my plane here with me for a couple of months in the San Antonio area.  If I do I will want to have a hangar or shade hangar.  If I do this will Texas come after me for a Use tax and or Sales tax?  Any info would be helpful....thanks

I paid sales tax because I purchased my plane from a broker. Private sales have been exempt. Could change any time, the government is looking for your money! There is no use tax as long as it is not used for business.

My experience is (Dallas) that you are unlikely to have a problem. I bought mine from an individual (through a broker), 10 years ago, and am hangared at Dallas Executive (RBD). I haven't heard a peep from anyone.

Thanks guys......looks like I might be able to bring it down then in a couple weeks....I miss my Mooney.....although the T-6 is a cool plane and all.....thanks again for the info.

Yea I called around and no one has anything....I was hoping for a hail shack?  We shall see....I am here until Sept and I am itching to fly "my" plane.  jax88 where are you hangared at?

I paid tax when I bought my Cessna 140 in IN to the state of VT and then I had to pay tax AGAIN when I sold it to a guy in NH!  Oh and I paid tax on my experimental Quickie Q2 to VT when I bought it in PA.  And I paid tax on my Mooney in VT when I bought it from a broker in OK!  I think I own an airport in VT with all the taxes they've made me pay.  I got penalties too on the Cessna when I bought it and when I sold it.  I hate this state.  Vermont!

Try Boerne Stage Aero and if you cant get a spot there then Boulverde or Fredericksburg then farther out is Kerrville.

Gents, I commute from my home airport in Pecan Plantation 0TX1 to PEZ Pleasanton which is south of SAT about 30 minutes.  I'm renting a spot in a community hanger that may have a spot next to my Mooney.  PM me and we can look into it for you.

Which UPT base are you going to?  I was in Enid two months ago and the GA airport sounded pretty nice.  I'm about half way done with my first assignment at Cannon and am thinking about what I want to do next.

Epatry, I am heading to Vance in September.  The area isnt to bad and the GA airport is awesome...Woodring has a great atmoshphere and the hangars are a good price....I want to say I am paying around 120/month.  Any of you guys here have any experience with KBAZ in New Braunfels?  Good/Bad?  Looks like it is a straight shot from Universal City and would be fairly convienent.

KBAZ is a nice little airport.  Never kept an aircraft out there, but use it often for practice.
