  1. I have found fore flight cumbersome on the iPhone but great on the iPad. FlyQ works great for general info and weather on my iPhone. It will not be my substitute for Foreflight but I think I have the best of both now.
  2. As you drive in the gate to the airport on the way to your plane, go straight ahead. It is across from hanger A-3. They have a sign and phone number up.
  3. JetDriven, Did you see the hanger available at KLVJ? I did not know if you were still looking.
  4. This is what Mooney's are all about. My family is in Florida for a few weeks and I was able to fly down and meet them. I left Houston and flew non-stop to Sarasota (Rectrix was an awsome FBO). The flight was at 17,500 and with a head wind I made it in 5:10. I was over all the bumpy Florida weather. I could hear the traffic below dodging the rain showers. The flight was VFR and only scattered clouds. I came back today in roughly the same time. There are a lot of neat things in life but for this week some of the best were the weather, my family and a beautiful beach. I will say a turbo was a very sweet thing, nexrad is cool and FOREFLIGHT / IPAD combo is so cool I can't contain myself. I posted some pictures. I found a restaurant on top of a bait camp / fishing pier. I had to go back and eat the grouper sandwich a second time! I believe Anna Maria Island is better known for the "older" crowd who visits in the winter. There were very few people on the beach. It was great.

  6. I paid sales tax because I purchased my plane from a broker. Private sales have been exempt. Could change any time, the government is looking for your money! There is no use tax as long as it is not used for business.
  7. I should have started the thread by adding that I purchased my plane from "All America" several years ago and was very happy with the experience.
  8. http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/barron_thomas_fraud_charges_ponzi_204370-1.html Makes you wonder how truthful they are when you purchase one of their "flipped" planes.
  9. Becca / Jetdriven, I talked to you when you landed at KLVJ. I was on the sailing team at LSU. When I first came to Houston I was racing J-24's on Galvelston bay!
  10. My trophy conversion has the performance portions of hte 252 POH included as part of the upgrade. Some confusion may be the "full" Trophy 262 package vs. the engine upgrade that some of the mooney shops offer. The Trophy conversion used the actual 252 cowling, cowl flaps and gear doors from the mooney factory. I don't think the engine upgrade shops went the "full monty". The Trophy conversion was more than just the engine swap. The restrictions to the gear limit speeds and the inability of the gross weight upgrade are correct.
  11. I have a 262 trophy conversion on a 1983 airframe. The difference is the 14v vs 24v electrical system. That is just about the only difference. I have the split folding rear seats, dual alternators, backup vacume, speed brakes, hot prop, the same cowl flaps, and all of the gap seals and hinge seals of the 252. It really is a beautiful engine package. I live in the flatland of Texas and you might wonder why I have a turbo. Take off to 10,000' in 10 minutes on a 100 degree summer day. Enough of a reason for me. The climb is 900 fpm+ to at least 17,500'.
