aviatoreb Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 Quote: Mazerbase I changed the bulb before I had a failure. I did so for two reasons. First, I wanted to try it out with the incadecent bulb as backup. Second, I now leave my LED landing light on all the time for increased visibility. I think of it as cheap insurance. Quote
Txbyker Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 I had my second landing light go out in a period of 3 months. I could see a broken filiment. I think the jar of setting the cowling on the ground might do it. Just put in the Whelen LED. Hope that this one is not susceptable to easy outage. Any pireps for those that have installed one? Quote
rbridges Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 how would you guys compare the LED to the standard incadescent bulb as far as seeing the runway at night? I read an article, and I believe it said that LEDs tended to be wider and with less distance coverage. They really liked the HIDs, but the LEDs are much simpler. Quote
ToddDPT Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 I just ordered my Whelen LED last week from Aircraft Spruce. They said it was on back order until the end of the month. Does anyone else know where I can pick one up online? Where did you recently get yours? Quote
Txbyker Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Knots2U has them in stock. Got it in 3 days. Quote
ToddDPT Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Thanks txbyker! I just ordered it and it will be here this Thursday. Quote

I'm sure the M20K will be no different, but they were kind enough to install 2 landing lights on the cowl instead of just 1. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php?query=par-46&search=1 Which one is correct? jetdriven Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 No mention of candlepower, but the XeVision 50W is 750k. I suspect the LED is much, much less. Quote
