Magnum Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Hi, I just got back my oil analysis. The lab says everything is ok, but would like to get a better feeling for the data. Does someone want to share data for the IO-360? Thanks. Quote
takair Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 I have my latest one electronically. Can you post or PM your email and I will send a copy? Comparing them may not be as important as developing a trend. Different labs can have different results, which is why it is important to not only do the analysis regularly, but to use the same lab as well. Quote

Magnum Posted May 7, 2011 Author Report Posted May 7, 2011 Thank you for your data. Seems I have to much Copper. I'll try Camguard now and see how it develops. LFOD Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Can you get an analysis from Blackstone despite being located in Germany? I am mechanically challenged; I am surprised I even figured out how to start my plane. Blackstone gives a great narrative when they do an analysis. Really breaks it down. Quote

Awful_Charlie Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Quote: Magnum They say everything is normal, but stated that copper and iron is a bit high. Quote
Magnum Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 I am using Aeroshell 15W50. I used the oil for around 45hrs, I'll reduce that now to 25hrs. IMHO: Half the time in use, half the contamination? Quote
Shadrach Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Are you using AeroShell multigrade? I have read that it reacts with the copper flashing on the engine parts particularly the cam. If this is the case it's no big deal, but it does kind of obscure your true copper rating. If it were a bearing issue, you would have seen an up tic in tin and other metals as well as it would mean that the babbitt metal in the bearings was compromised... Quote
Magnum Posted May 10, 2011 Author Report Posted May 10, 2011 Thanks for the info. The values were roughly the same for the last 3 years, so the Aeroshell explanation sounds good. Interestingly my lab always said everything is fine, and in the last report they said copper and steel a bit high but still within normal limits. It seems it depends on who is writing the report...
