Thinking I might buy the upgrade from my 430W to an IFD 440.  Looking for any pireps on the conversion when linked to an Aspen, Lynx 9000 and GNS480.

I can only speak for the Aspen interface and a couple of L-3 products, but not the GNS480..

In 2015 as soon as the IFD440 came out I swapped out a 430W for a 440 in a 2000 Ovation (I was an early adopter and had put money down and waited for the IFD440. My net cost after selling my 430W was just over $2500 to do the swap.)

It was a seamless transition since I had already swapped out the 530W for a 540. My A & P and I wrote down all of the configs on the 430W and then slid it out and slid the 440 in and after the settings were put in I never had a single glitch. I had the King KFC225 autopilot and had earlier put in an Avidyne transponder when I did the IFD540. The airplane had the L-3 WX-500 Stormscope and Skywatch active traffic which both worked perfectly with the Avidynes.

I've had current issues with g500 and kfc225 autopilot software compatibility that has supposedly been corrected by current software.Am not aware of issues with the aspens .The readability of the ifd440 using the ipad based IFD100 is very good.

I’ll see if I can dig up the thread on BT, but there may be some additional wiring / config required for integration with the Aspen depending on what you want the IFD to display on that unit.
