bradp Posted April 17, 2017 Report Posted April 17, 2017 Not an advertisement, but I wanted to share this email I got from the Trio autopilot group (Paul Odum. Paul.odum@sbcglobal.net) Quote Mooney drivers ! We had a great meeting last week with the FAA to kick off the Trio Pro Pilot autopilot STC approval project. The STC Group, is holding an engineering meeting next week to decide who gets the resources for the next couple of A/P install kit design projects. I’ve got three (3) of you on my Firm commit list. I need at least 25 to 30 of you on the Firm list in order to throw engineering team members at your Mooneys. It’s time to step up to the plate and get on the list everyone. I’ve got Joel K., Jason K, and Ray Slocum on the Firm list. Ping me before next Tuesday, get on your type group lists, and get them to belly up to the bar. Cheers, Paul C. LevelWing Posted April 18, 2017 Report Posted April 18, 2017 What does the cost look like for their Pro Pilot Autopilot system? I see the prices for experimental aircraft on their website, but not the certified aircraft prices. By "firm commit", does he just want an email or is he wanting money? Quote
bradp Posted April 18, 2017 Author Report Posted April 18, 2017 I was wondering the exact same two questions. Anyone know? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
aviatoreb Posted April 18, 2017 Report Posted April 18, 2017 By memory I thought I read that there is envelope protection - but now I am not finding it. Was I mistaking that? Quote

Was I mistaking that? Aha - this is where I read that this autopilot has envelope protection http://www.trioavionics.com/press.htm if this is right then I would commit even better if it also has a straight and level button. I need to call and see what it really has but with those features I would consider replacing my excellent but expensive to maintain kfc200 Quote
bradp Posted April 19, 2017 Author Report Posted April 19, 2017 Thanks for pointing that out Erik. Are these features going to be available with the STC model? I'd assume so, but should ask to make sure it's not a dumbed down. Also TrueTrak emails alluded to the fact that they will need a higher level PMA application to interface with certified avionics. Is that the case for the Trio or will they already have that PMA? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
