Hey, guys.  Out of curiosity have any of you taken your mooney to muncie aviation in Indiana?  What about Byerly aviation in Peoria Illinois?  Thanks!

Josh

Muncie has provided good advice to my local A&P over the phone on a couple of occasions. My only direct interaction with them was on a damage repair estimate.  They sent two mechanics to my location.  They were very professional and put together a comprehensive (although expensive) estimate.

I lived in Indy for 60 years, owned a Mooney while there for 14 years, but I took it to Don Maxwell and as previously posted in another thread, I would look up Boyd Birchler, or Larry Wheelock. These are both very competent Mooney IA's and owners. A former Colt DE used Muncie for his Ovation maintenance with less than satisfactory results, another F model owner on this list has used Muncie for avionics and other work and is happy. Their invoices scared me a bit, but that is not to say they are not a great shop now. My history is 4 years old.

Just scheduled my annual with Byerly so hope they're good! I have heard others say they are solid. Chatted with Ryan who heads up maintenance for a while and he seemed like he knew all of the classic Mooney quirks so I feel good about it. Their flat rate is a little higher than the other MSC near me but I think that will be reflected in the work.

I had my prebuy done on a C at Byerly about 2 years ago and was very happy with their work. I think that the person, who was the head of maintenance at the time, retired and I think his name was Kerry. He seemed to know a lot about Mooney's and was very easy to deal with even though I am in Pennsylvania. But as I said I was very happy with their work.
