I know this plane.  it's hangered at my old homefield (PVG).  Overall it's a good value for the price, but everything needs to be done.  The avionics are not the best, the interior is a bit rough and the paint is passable.  If someone wanted great capibility and didn't mind the less than steller asthetics its probably a good deal.

Yep...its been for sale for a long time.  The owner has had several offers but isn't interested in coming off his asking price.  In short he doesn't need the money and is firm on his price, even though he drops $400 p/month on a hanger and who knows what on insurance.

maxmax,

Mooney economics, from an engineering perspective....

Rockets and missiles are going to probably be price bound at the top by factory built Bravos and Ovations.  Since the economy and fuel prices have brought the factory built aircraft down in price, the modified rockets and missiles need to shift downwards also.

There is a core group of people that would prefer the modified J or K, but many like the fully engineered package from the factory.

Either way, the modified birds are getting older and probably much closer to TBO than when Rocket Engineering was in full swing modifying Mooneys.  A freshly overhauled rocket or missile will probably be back in the premium category.

I saw the Rocket that this thread is originally discussing.  Athough, It was a couple of years ago.  I was really impressed.  It started me researching Mooneys with extra HP.

My thoughts, shared...

Best regards,

This bird has been for sale for 3 years. People who chase the market down and dont sell lose out big. Behind the market is behind the market. This one appears to be ahead and might finally sell. When I bought my MSE I priced a lot of Rockets and all the owners were defensive and prideful. I should have waited even longer than I did. Prices are still sliding. I am one of those people that think a Rocket is a Better airframe/engine combination that the TLS/Bravo ever thought of being. It took Mooney many years to finaly copy Rocket and use a Continental engine. If you can afford to upgrade the avionics a Rocket will ALWAYS come out ahead of a TLS in every aspect except resale.

I looked at another Rocket last summer. He just woke up and dropped his price $34,000, still might not sell. There are a couple of Rockets advertised at over $200,000. Those guys are just wasting their time. I have seen a lot of planes "for sale" that were only on the market to convince the wife to get off someones back. When there are Bravos under 150 there is no way a Rocket will sell for over 200.
