we flew our m20j from olathe, kansas to des moines yesterday(happy thanksgiving everyone!) and had a wonderful round trip...max. gross weight, -15c at 6500, and we trued 160kts! but i'm concerned that our oil temp never topped 160 degrees.

my old cherokee had a winter plate for the oil cooler to manage this problem. does anyone know if this is available for our mooneys?

Willmar recommends adding an oil cooler block in the winter.  I have seen only pictures, it partly blocks the top of the oil cooler.  Call them.

joB,

i have read that 180 degrees is the minimum oil temperature required to cleanse any water out(that might be suspended in the oil as a byproduct of combustion).
