Ashe Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 As I close in on the right plane for me, I've narrowed my Mooney options to the E or F model. I've actually had a really breif flight in the F (like 15 - 20 min demo). It wasn't really enough to get a feel for the plane, but I know my 6' 2" frame fits fine. I fly out of Hendricks County Airport (2R2) on the west side of town. Is there anyone around who'd like a tank of gas in exchange for a ride? I'd like to check out an F again as well as a short body. For the latter, I don't mind much if it's a C or E, I'm trying to guage how well the cabin will work for me, and I'd like to see if I can detect any difference in flight characteristics of the shorter airframe. I suppose I should also ask if there anyone nearby that is a CFI and qualified to do Mooney checkouts if I buy one of these? Ashe Quote
Ned Gravel Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Ashe: I am not from around there, so no help to you in putting you in the cockpit of a short body, but..... since you ask..... E's are faster than F's because they weigh less on the same engine. 'nuff said.... Quote
1964-M20E Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 I'm 6'-2" and I have a 64E model. I fit in it fairly well. It does become a 3 seater when I'm flying it since I adjust the seat back. I only flew in a J model once and that was 30 years ago. I do notice the fish tail effect that is talked aobut but it is not bad at all. Quote
Barry Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 I'm 6'5" 280# and fly a "C". No problems ... Quote
mooney231 Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 Ashe, I am a CFI in the area with Mooney experience. I'll send you a PM. Best, Jason Quote
