markejackson02 Posted May 1, 2016 Report Posted May 1, 2016 I know that Jeppesen software will produce flight plans that can be loaded into the Garmin 696. Does anyone know of other software that will do so? I have Foreflight but that doesn't appear to do so. Quote
markejackson02 Posted May 2, 2016 Author Report Posted May 2, 2016 FWIW, I tried to export an existing flight plan to an SD card but it gave me a save error. Quote
FlyDave Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 You can cross-feed flight plans from a 430/530 - and probably a 650/750 - direct to the 696. I have been very impressed with my 696 and GDL-39 (hard wired). It makes and excellent MFD. Quote
markejackson02 Posted May 2, 2016 Author Report Posted May 2, 2016 Just now, FlyDave said: You can cross-feed flight plans from a 430/530 - and probably a 650/750 - direct to the 696. I have the GMX-40 receiver for weather and the 696 rocks. Next year will upgrade to a panel mount GPS, would like the 750. Quote
markejackson02 Posted May 9, 2016 Author Report Posted May 9, 2016 Turns out that fltplan.com will generate these xml files. The format is relatively simple. There's a waypoint table listing each waypoint with coordinates and a route table listing the route-points in sequence. Created one this weekend from KAXH to T82. It doesn't include the airway information or SID/STAR info which doesn't matter with the 696. Quote
