IOW, put a smart phone or a belt buckle right behind the JBar and push down hard on the bar trying to get it to the floor... anyone want to get a confession off your conscience here? I was thinking more along the lines of....oh say......an ink pen or stray flashlight. I've heard it can be difficult to raise the gear if either are under the J bar..... 1 Quote

A buddy said he was flying with his grand daughter in the back and she kicked the gear lock and it slammed the gear down with a very load bang...maybe something similar? I think this is right on target with mine because of the direction it is bent. Don M also mentioned this happening to him at cruise a few times. Quote
carusoam Posted April 23, 2016 Report Posted April 23, 2016 Reminder... Don't unlock the Jbar in cruise. Always make sure it is locked in place. If it releases in flight. It moves quite quickly. Anything in the way will get hurt. And the bang is quite loud. Some Mooney experiences are better for somebody else to have... Best regards, -a- Quote

Best regards, -a- I can't imagine it being done intentionally. Even if it is locked in place, a passengers foot could unlock it. Quote
