Gary0747 Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Has anybody found a source or a good substitute for the small hoses that hook to the Brittainturn coordinator used in the wing leveler. I think the original are latex and they crack and age fairly quickly. Quote
Vance Harral Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Brittain themselves is the best source for these parts. Still in business, reasonably priced. Check 'em out: http://www.brittainautopilots.com/contact-us.html 1 Quote
Shadrach Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 If you're referring to the hoses that look and feel like black surgical tubing behind the panel, Lasar has it. The larger diameter flexible plastic hose that runs the length of the plane is likely out of the standard aviation parts bin. I did all of the hoses behind my panel as well as the filters about 6 years ago. I could not believe that no one had called our attention to it. It was still vac tight, but only the last few fractions of a MM of the tube circumference, the outer surface was rotten and disintegrating. Quote

Browncbr1 Posted April 16, 2016 Report Posted April 16, 2016 It's automotive windshield wiper hose. Jerry himself says so. I also found the same size vacuum hose at pep boys that is a little stiffer. Quote

Browncbr1 Posted April 16, 2016 Report Posted April 16, 2016 Jerry the guy who installs pretty much all of the systems at brittain if anyone takes their plane to Tulsa. Just going on what he advised from our many conversations. Don't shoot the messenger. Quote
Gary0747 Posted April 17, 2016 Author Report Posted April 17, 2016 I doubt you will find a PMA spec for this original tubing anywhere. Mine only lasts about 10 years. It is Latex (surgical tubing) which has poor chemical compatibility especially with petroleum products. It will oxidize and crack with age. There has to be a better product out there and that may be what Jerry is suggesting. Quote
Yetti Posted April 17, 2016 Report Posted April 17, 2016 Jerry also says the port wing tubing usually goes out faster than the starboard.... maybe the red coloring Quote
