irishpilot Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 Hey all, I'm looking for an airspeed pressure switch for a 1965 M20E. I heard the switch is the same for E and F models. If you have one in good working order, please let me know. Quote
KSMooniac Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) Are you sure you have one? I thought they used a squat switch on the left main gear like my early J. I think the airspeed switch came later, but I could be mistaken. Edited March 28, 2016 by KSMooniac Quote
irishpilot Posted March 28, 2016 Author Report Posted March 28, 2016 I am sure my plane does. It is electric gear. Not the J bar. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Quote
carusoam Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 Squat switch came with the early electric gear. airspeed switch came with later electric gear. My 94 O has an airspeed switch. Best regards, -a- Quote
KSMooniac Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 My J is electric gear as well and does not have the airspeed switch. It uses a squat switch on the gear, and I believe that configuration was carried over from the C/E/F/G models with electric gear. I believe the airspeed switch started in 1978. Quote
Marauder Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 Squat switch came with the early electric gear. airspeed switch came with later electric gear. My 94 O has an airspeed switch. Best regards, -a- This tidbit of confusion came up before. There are planes built in the 1960s that have the airspeed switch. They went from air to squat to air again (I also think they started with squats as well). The 74 models to one of the early J models have squat switches. They then switched back over to air switches. The bigger question is whether or not the airspeed switch on his plane is the same as the later model's switch. 2 Quote
KSMooniac Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 Interesting... I didn't know they had the A/S switch earlier! I've read these are frequently damaged during a pitot-static system check. I'm glad I don't have one. 1 Quote

cnoe Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Forgive my dumb question but... where would the air-switch be located and what does it look like. I'm still learning about my bird but don't remember seeing this on my '78J. Quote

Just curious. Quote
KSMooniac Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 That is it! Looks different than the one I removed from my '81 J salvage, though. I wonder if that is a newer replacement. These things can be damaged during a pitot-static check, so always make the technician aware of the switch. 1 Quote
