carusoam Posted March 18, 2016 Report Posted March 18, 2016 Looks like that new door is going to need a little adjustment at the top... I wish they could have shared the photo before printing it on the cover. Best regards, -a- Quote

Best regards, -a- My thoughts, too. Do you think it's not latched right just to make people notice it's there? Closed right, it would look just like a one-door Mooney. 2 Quote
carusoam Posted March 18, 2016 Report Posted March 18, 2016 The marketing and engineering people are going at it in the back office. Marketing wants to promote it. Engineering knows they can make it invisible! Best regards, -a- Quote

201er Posted March 18, 2016 Report Posted March 18, 2016 "Stunning" make over? A door, panel, and some interior trim? Really? It used to take some real changes and speed improvements to merit moving up a letter... Quote

Unfortunately in this age of marketing and social media, instead of real stuff they believe that it is truly stunning. Quote
CaptainAB Posted March 18, 2016 Report Posted March 18, 2016 I was stunned by it. While it seems obvious I never expected them to all of the sudden add a pilot side door. It's kind of funny too. I mean after 60 years it almost seems like it just wasn't possible. Quote

rbridges Posted March 18, 2016 Report Posted March 18, 2016 I know I'm biased, but that is a good looking plane. 2 Quote
kmyfm20s Posted March 18, 2016 Report Posted March 18, 2016 If I had 2 doors I think I would still use the passenger side to get out! There is no way I could get out of a Mooney in that low reclined seat position with out roll, step and pull routine. It is funny though for years 2 doors was on everyone's wish list and now it's getting bashed. 4 Quote

New door, coposite (fiberglass) cockpit skin section, that's what contributed to the new model number as well. Interior panel redesign is also quite nice - much more thought into it than before. But I do hear you. -Seth Quote
gsengle Posted March 18, 2016 Report Posted March 18, 2016 I would LOVE to have that panel. I wouldn't underestimate how much automotive style interiors sell airplanes... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Adding that door required reworking the cage structure, and going to a fully molded composite skin likely changed a lot when it comes to constructing the plane. Just because the biggest changes are hidden under the paint doesn't make them small changes. 14 hours ago, kmyfm20s said: If I had 2 doors I think I would still use the passenger side to get out! I just duck and step onto the passenger side then stand up as I'm coming out. I might find myself getting out the right side as well, but I sure would like the second door for ventilation on the ground. Edited March 19, 2016 by StinkBug Quote
