milotron Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 Hi there, I am a soon to be M20K owner ( 2 aircraft in the works, just need to make a decision ) and am looking for some Mooney specific transition training in western Canada. My background is in C172/182 and DA40, and I want to make sure I know this plane inside an out as it will be the first I have owned outright. Any suggestions for someone local or within reasonable travel distance? I am likely going to get the new aircraft ferried over with an instructor and will get the basic hours to keep insurance happy, but with all that I read on this ( fantastic! ) forum, I clearly have a lot to learn. Hank Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 Don Kaye is the West Coast guru. Clarence (M20doc) may know someone on your side of the border. Congrats and good luck! Please add photos and stories when you can. Quote
carusoam Posted January 17, 2016 Report Posted January 17, 2016 Welcome out into the light, Milotron. Best regards, -a- Quote
milotron Posted January 17, 2016 Author Report Posted January 17, 2016 Thanks guys. You know, I short listed the cirrus SR22 with the Mooney to meet my requirements and read everything on both of the forums for each type. This forum is phenomenal for the amount of wisdom and enthusiastic, knowledgable owners actively participating. I look forward to becoming an owner. ( hopefully within the month! ) Quote
rdav Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 I did my transition training at Namao Flying Club in Edmonton. They have an M20d with the retractable gear mod that they offer for training and rental. Quote

Hank Posted January 18, 2016 Report Posted January 18, 2016 Milo torn, there is also the Mooney Aircraft Pilots Assn. They put on Pilot Proficiency Programs in various spots around the country, combining classroom teaching with flying in your plane with their CFIs. Ted Corsones lives in NH or VT, he always sends out the emails about upcoming PPPs. Check out www.mooneypilots.com for the group, but you probably won't find a lot about the PPP there. You may find a flight test report on the K, though. I really learned a lot at my first PPP, a. Noth after finishing my insurance dual. A very good experience! Quote
