bradp Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 I was curious if anyone knows whether it was sold or parted out? Hopefully it was sold and has a happy home Also how did the foundation fly the heavily modified aircraft? Apparently under an experimental type certificate...? Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 It's still registered to them... Quote
KSMooniac Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 I think they unsuccessfully tried to sell it years ago. It is definitely experimental, and probably under R&D restrictions, which makes it nearly useless for average ownership and XC travel. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
bonal Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 Actually a fellow named Kyle owns it he was working at LASAR for a time and the CAFE was parked out on the ramp. He and the Mooney have since moved on but it was flying from 1o2 last year. 1 Quote
MB65E Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 I posted an article in the downloads section on the airplane from a Sport Avaition article from 1982. It would be cool to see the airplane in the right hands again. Great Article! -Matt Quote
KSMooniac Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 They did a LOT of great work on that project. Quote
Sabremech Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 I spoke with Kyle at the last MAPA convention and he flew it out to Terrell Texas as the weather kept him from getting into Kerrville. I was hoping to see it but the timing didn't work out. Nice to know it's flying. Quote
DXB Posted January 11, 2016 Report Posted January 11, 2016 I'd never heard of this beast until now. Cool plane!! Quote
ryoder Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Yeah I'd love to see this plane in action. Quote
