peevee Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 I thought the old one was pretty OK, but the jepp does all the same things I guess too. Weird they keep changing things, then changing back or like the partnership website buying things and then shutting them down. Quote
gsengle Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 I used it a lot in the pre foreflight days, but now it's irrelevant.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'm a wingx pro user, and the planner is adequate but pretty basic, I like the web planners, bigger screen, I can draw the line, pick fuel stops, check prices, I dunno maybe I'm just stuck in my ways. The wind optimization on the old planner was pretty good too I thought. 1 Quote

But I've never used any of the AOPA online offerings except to take a look at them. And for ForeFlight users, they are working on their own online planner that automatically syncs with the iPad app. The beta is pretty low on features but I have little doubt it's going to be my big screen go-to. DrBill Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 AOPA Had one of the first, then switched, then switched again, and then again for how many times, now one more time. I used the first one then went to FLTPLAN.com and never went back. I would not be surprised they are doing it for some sort of kickback. Nothing else justifies the switching of sw to sw. Bill Quote

Bill I'm sure there's some kickback. They had their own software, then went to the jepp real time Internet flight planner, the somehow got wrapped up with Seattle avionics and had that flyq efb a d Web planner and now back to jepp, I don't get it but whatever. gsengle Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 I just feel being able to use the same system at home, at the fbo, in the car and then even in the plane has a lot of value. I don't find setting a route to be the hard part, it's all the last min stuff: weather, TFRs, notams etc which I prefer to get right before I fly... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
midlifeflyer Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 If foreflight does it, wingx will soon follow then. That does seem to be the pattern for both, but I'd put it, If foreflight does it and there is a lot of positive user response to it, wingx will son follow. And vice versa. Quote
carusoam Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 So many improvements are based on the hardware and operating system... My 15 yr old KLN90B can no longer handle the full Jepp data base for 'the Americas'. It gets split up into pieces... Swapping out the database requires removing the box. The computer interface aged. Wifi with some form of data verification would be a nice update. Keep developing, -a- Quote
Danb Posted August 13, 2015 Report Posted August 13, 2015 I was sorry to see flight soft leave but there's so much competition the little guys are getting left in the dust Quote
animalmover Posted August 14, 2015 Report Posted August 14, 2015 I was a big navmonster.com user until it got gobbled up. Quote
Ned Gravel Posted August 14, 2015 Report Posted August 14, 2015 I just tried it and it is waaaay too slow. Foreflight on my iPad is much faster and easier to use. Quote
