cujet Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 I love the way they cut the video before too much of the prop is seen! It's a 50HP, ultralite. Hahahahaha. Quote

Indeed, LOL--you can see the prop right before TO. Jeez, if you want an inexpensive, comparatively speaking, jet-fighter experience in a prop just get a Mooney. This is cool! Bizarre, pathetic, waste of of resources comes to mind--still cool in a funny way Quote
MB65E Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 I think it only needs just a few more pounds of thrust.... -Matt Quote
PTK Posted May 26, 2015 Author Report Posted May 26, 2015 It's an ultralight no doubt but still a cool design! 2 Quote
DAVIDWH Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Glad that one didn't land on the white house lawn. Talk about a freak out!! Quote

HRM Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Here you go boys, THIS is cool: Screamin' Sasquatch 1929 biplane replica flies with Learjet engine The Screamin’ Sasquatch is a 1929 Taperwing biplane replica custom built by Dell Coller and powered by a Learjet engine to fly up to 250 mph. The plane is part of Jack Link's flying team and is flown by Jeff Boerboon. Quote

I'm an owner pilot and always have much more appreciation for other owner pilots and not those who need a long list of corporate sponsors. But that's just me. When I'm sitting in my M20C waiting while a G5 or Citation X taxis by, I'm not envious. Why? Because I own my airplane, I don't work for the owner of the airplane. Just my $0.02 so I like the goofy looking "Tomcat" with the pusher propeller. That's something a guy like me could build and fly... not that I ever would, but I could. 2 Quote
kerry Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Kind of reminds me of Irans F-313 stealth fighter. https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=iranian+fake+stealth+fighter&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-003 Quote
PTK Posted May 27, 2015 Author Report Posted May 27, 2015 I think it is very cool. He had an idea of the design he wanted, he built it and it flies. It's a flying fuselage design built out of aluminum alloy. If I were to ever own an UL that would certainly be on top of my list. 1 Quote

It reminds me of something you'd see at the circus like the bearded lady or siamese twins, just a freak show. Quote

Bizarre, pathetic, waste of of resources comes to mind--still cool in a funny way It would seem that way viewed through the prism of American GA. I beleive this guy lives in Greece and built and flies this aircraft there. It's not a GA friendly country. There are less GA airplanes based in the whole country than at one of our larger GA airports. It's not that hard to get a PPL and acquire an aircraft in the states by comparison. In my opinion, the devotion and resources put into scratch building an ultralight like that, in a country like Greece, is not something to trivialize, no matter how silly it may appear to us. Quote
PTK Posted May 27, 2015 Author Report Posted May 27, 2015 Sooooooooooooooo Chris...just how much fun are they to ride?! Quote
cliffy Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 A very fit cowboy is sitting at the bar and a wide heifer, er cowgirl walks up to him and says, "Hey good lookin can I have your phone number"? He says "Do you have a pen/" She says, " Ssure!" He says, "Well, you'd better get back in it before the farmer sees you're gone." He's still in traction at the hospital. Reminds me of the old joke about Marauder's ladies. It looks fun to ride, you just don't want your friends to see you doing it. 3 Quote
1964-M20E Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 I like it. It's cool fun flying low and slow make you feel like a bird. I'd put a IO360 with a ducted fan on it to really make it look more like a jet and it would probably climb like a scared cat. Maybe I'll convert the Mooney to a ducted fan configuration. 2 Quote
HRM Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 OK, you want cool? Here, here's cool. What makes an airplane "cool?" Suffice it to say, we know it when we see it. It just kind of hits you. Almost all of the airplanes here do something really differently (whether subtle or in-your-face). Most of them are the longstanding objects of fascination by us pilots. Will you agree with them all? No way! But we know that you'll think that most of them are as cool as we do. Enjoy checking out Flying Magazine's "25 Coolest Aircraft." —Robert Goyer, Editor-in-Chief, Flying Quote
