I was passing by an avionics shop last night and noticed a brochure for the King 770.  The screenshot they used for the cover shows relabeled bezel keys and a much cleaner display.  I have no idea if the feds have blessed the changes as yet but it appears to be a genuine improvement.  Aspen Avionics is given credit on both front and back of brochure which begs the question have they become a full partner in this box?

Yes. Like the Avidyne development, the Bendix King 770 got delayed and they partnered with Aspen to work through the user interface to get it certified.

I would be curious to know what you saw was changed from what a group of us saw at a local avionics shop a few months back.

As an Aspen owner, I thought I would love the 770 interface, I didn't. The Aspen interface on the PFD and MFD work because it is all point and click for what you want. You want GPSS, you press GPSS. You want minimums set, you press MIN.

For a navigator with multi functions, the single button thing did not work for me. Too bad because I was holding out for a solution that would integrate with the Aspens.

They must have reprinted the brochure...

The version I have doesn't mention Aspen.

It is a giant leap from the KLN90B. 15 years of evolution...

Not a big enough step for the casual iPad user.

Chris, they could use your help out there. Technical hardware guy with strong IFR background...

Telecommute a few good ideas to help them get to the next level...

I would buy one if it were Mooney Guy developed....

What I saw is an update of the 770 they showed at KOSH this year.  I am guessing they have done some major changes to the system to make it more user friendly.  The FMS button is gone replaced by FPL. The presentation on the screen (in the picture on the brochure) looks more orderly.  Maybe someone with knowledge would be willing to enlighten us.

Our BK guy is Chuck Burkhead...

Charles.burkhead at bendix king . Com (fix the errors)

I am interested...

As you can see, it wasn't done yet.

I am too old to learn new tricks, over and over again...

Best regards,
