I concur, and wouldn't be surprised if not all UHMW tape products use the same adhesive.  Glad to hear you've had better luck than me, but I still recommend against it.  Just gun shy now, I guess.

The irony is that when I first used the stuff, I was pleased that it seemed to be more adherent than the "expensive" Teflon stuff from Aircraft Spruce I had previously used.  I now understand that wasn't a good thing.

I just remembered I used that stuff on my C-140 years ago, this airplane is always hangared. This is what that stuff turns into, and good luck getting it off.

This is where I had a little sticking out, didn’t worry about it as new it’s clear, but it’s not coming off now
