dcrogers11 Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Has anyone bought Varsol in a while and where did you find it? It's great for cleaning engine and undercarriages with an air gun. Would mineral spirits work as well? Thanks, Don Quote

OR75 Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 You can find those solvent in 5 gallons pales at fuel and lubricants marketers . They are usually located where truck activity is important . Just google "fuel and lubricants marketers " in your area Quote
mooniac15u Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 Varsol is a brand name for a family of solvents produced by ExxonMobile. They are generally mixtures of hydrocarbons. I think you will find generic mineral spirits to be roughly equivalent in terms of cleaning ability. I would be careful spraying any of this through an air gun. The vapors are highly flammable and potentially toxic or carcinogenic depending on what's in the particular mixture. Quote
DrBill Posted December 25, 2014 Report Posted December 25, 2014 My A&P loves mineral spirits for cleaning. His standard sheet for annuals includes a gallon for pre cleaning the belly and other parts. I'll try it after I run out of the Green cleaner for aircraft. BILL Quote
