NotarPilot Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Does anyone know the specs for what type of Tinnerman nuts are used on the belly pieces of the J? I believe I have a couple missing that I would like to replace on my upcoming annual but don't want to have to remove belly panels prior just to get the specs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve Quote
Dale Logsdon Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 they are "A1274-8Z3" tinnerman nuts 1 Quote
carusoam Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Consider purchasing new SS screws to match... The screws will not be the sharp pointy ones. More of a dull point on them... Best regaurds, -a- Quote
Hank Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 I bought a bag of every screw, nut and washer on all panels (in stainless), and replace them as needed. Stripped heads, worn threads, hard to turn, worn clips that move around, etc. It cost very little at Spruce; can't say that about their plane-specific sets. 2 Quote
NotarPilot Posted September 12, 2014 Author Report Posted September 12, 2014 Thanks Dale. I'm not seeing this part number available from Aircraft Spruce. Where did you get yours? Quote
Hank Posted September 12, 2014 Report Posted September 12, 2014 Try Wag Aero, Chief, or just Google the part number or "tinnerman" Quote

Thanks, Steve There are several different types of fasteners used on the belly panels. Number 8 PK type screws installed with Tinnerman nuts, as well as 10-32 screws installed with a variety of nuts either riveted on anchor nuts or clipped on nut similar to the Tinnerman nut. Over the years I have seen many other varieties used by well meaning people. Clarence Quote
Piloto Posted September 14, 2014 Report Posted September 14, 2014 I get all my hardware from ECAS www.ecasinc.com in Melbourne FL. Download their catalog. You will find all type of aviation hardware. They have everything in stock. José Quote
Dale Logsdon Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 Thanks Dale. I'm not seeing this part number available from Aircraft Spruce. Where did you get yours? Aircraft Spruce has P/N A1786-8z -1d that is close to the same but has a slightly longer reach and should work or East Coast has the 1274-8. Quote
