ArtVandelay Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 I have a 1978, from my reading of the FAR 91.205.B.11 (TOMATO FLAMES), tells me that they are not required for VFR day flight (only if post 1996). My plane is in annual, and I have a problem with the power supply, so I was going to replace it with the new Whelen LED version (which doesn't require the power supply), unfortunately there is an 8 week delay, so my question is they an airworthiness item and required to be fixed in order to pass an annual?? omega708 Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 Let me see if I can find the shop that I ordered my Whelen from. They had abundant stock of the strobes and the landing lights when everyone else was on backorder. Quote

Not sure if you're interested or not, but I was able to obtain my LED Beacon and Landing light through Wilco even when the "big distributors" were on backorder. I worked with Mike Smith ( m.smith@wilco.to ) and he handled things perfectly, including responding to my initial email within 30 minutes. The full contact information below was provided to me directly from Whelen after I contacted them looking for a supplier with stock available. Wilco 3502 West Harry Wichita, KS 67213 Tel: 316-943-9379 Toll-Free: 800-767-7593 Fax: 316-943-9664 www.wilcoaircraftparts.com Sales@wilco.to Good luck! -JLG 1 Quote

They had them in stock...they also were running a special on the older Landing/Taxi lights, so I pick a couple of them up while I'm at it. Quote
