It's that time of year and the spiders are out in full force.  Curious to see what types of insect control works and what I should avoid using in/around the aircraft.  I've sprayed like crazy around the base of the hanger I'm in, but they are open T-Hangers and I can't spray everything.  I basically coated the floor with OrthoMax Home Defense, but it didn't really help all that much. I'm flying almost daily, and every morning there's a new batch of cobwebs on the plane.  Arrrrgh!!

Any advice out there on stuff that works?  I really hate the little buggers and the mess they make on the aircraft.

Thanks,

Brian

I am a licensed Termite Control operator in CA, but the basics should be similar. Spiders are some of the hardest pests to control. Orthomax Home defense should do it, or use Spectracide, available at Home Depot. Spiders can hold there breath for up to 3 days. You must eliminate the food sources for them, ie, the other little bugs around your hanger. With high humidity, it is going to be difficult. Just keep after them. A bug zapper might help. Remember, you must read and follow the directions on the label.  Legal Disclaimer.  What do you do at home?  Look at the webs, what are they catching? Plan on going after what they are catching.    No food, like every thing else, they will leave.  I would not get any on the plane, I do not know if it would damage your plane or not, possible damage to paint. Again, read the label and use only as allowed.

Shouldn't this thread go in the "Bug Reports" forum? Here I was all set to read something about the fuel injection system!
