Houman Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 Hi, I'm setting up the new W&B Profile in Foreflight ( great addition ), and am now wondering. I have entered my new empty weight (2294.59) and new Moment (99856.00), and I also used the figures on page 6-7 for the loading computing ( non STC POH ). I do get the exact Weight and C.G enveloppe chart in ForeFlight as I do at page 7-9 of the Rocket supplement, but when trying different weight and combinations, I seem to be more often forward of the enveloppe, unless I put baggage or rear passangers... Here is what I have originally : No 1 & 2 Seats FWD POS ( Sta 34.0 ) Max 400 LBS No 1 & 2 Seats AFT POS ( Sta 39.0 ) Max 400 LBS Fuel ( Sta 48.59 ) Max 360 LBS No 3 & 4 Seats ( Sta 70.7 ) Max 450 LBS Baggage ( Sta 95.5 ) Max 110 LBS Hat Rack ( Sta 119 ) Max 10 LBS... That got me wondering, should I use these figures from the original none Rocket STC POH, page 6-7 for the loading graph info, I don't seem to find the same graph in the Rocket STC. If not mistaken, with the Rocket STC, the batteries were moved aft to balance a bit more the heavier 305 engine, so wondering if the station information on the non STC POH is still usable, if not, where can I find the new information, it's not in the STC Rocket POH... Thanks !!! Quote
carusoam Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 If the batteries are moved then the data from the original POH no longer accounts for proper W&B... Just a heavier prop or engine needs an update to W&B. You definitely want proper data to work from... Hope that helps, -a- Quote
RocketAviator Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 Rocket Engineering holds the STC for the Rocket http://www.rocketengineering.com/content/mooney-305-rocket They do or at least my experience has been good support from them. 1 Quote
Houman Posted August 11, 2014 Author Report Posted August 11, 2014 Thanks, I have already contacted Rocket Engineering, and waiting for their response, hard to believe that they can't respond on a sunday night I was hoping some of the rocket owners might have the info instead. Thanks ! Quote
RocketAviator Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 Let me see what I can put together for you from my documentation Quote
RocketAviator Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 Not tonight though .. it's Sunday night & I need my beauty sleep! Quote
carusoam Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 Seeking the real data will be worth the wait... It is one of the things in the POH that is airframe specific. If it were to be incorrect, you would want to know... Best regards, -a- Quote
M016576 Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 I don't have a rocket, but I do have a missile (very similar conversion). The modification is very nose heavy. Even with 2 batteries pushed back into the tail cone). I carry a 45lb ruck in the baggage compartment filled with survival equipment if it's just me, or just 2 people flying to help with the CG. Use the W&B envelope from the rocket STC, plus your latest weight and balance data, and you should be good to go. Do NOT use the original K data- that is not accurate with the new motor / STC. Quote
Jeff H. Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 Attached is the W&B information from the Rocket STC. Also attached is a screen shot of my (potential) Rocket setup in ForeFlight. Same issues as you - very forward CG. And disregard the overweight issue - I'm just testing. Hope this helps, Jeff RocketSTC.pdf Quote
Houman Posted August 12, 2014 Author Report Posted August 12, 2014 Jeff I have already all this info, but I want to check the stations that do not seem to appear in the Rocket STC, so I took them from the original POH. I imagine that if they are no where in the STC, then it means the original POH version is still good... What did you put for the stations ( front Seats, Rear Seats, fuel Tanks and baggage Aera ) in your foreflight !!! Thanks ! Quote
Jeff H. Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 I realized after answering I may not have understood your question - sorry. Attached are the station entries. For front seat I would probably suggest using 34 rather than 39 as indicated - my understanding is that the seats are usually more forward during flight. Hope this helps more. Quote
