slowflyin Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 Just discovered a crack in my spinner bulkhead. I have an F model with a J front end. IO-360 a1a,, Hartzell HC-C2YK-1BF, Polished J style spinner. Any help would be appreciated. Quote
slowflyin Posted July 28, 2014 Author Report Posted July 28, 2014 Meant to be more specific. No part number on my broken one-looking to confirm what I should order and I'm looking for a vendor. Quote
bdjohn4 Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 I have an old spinner for a Hartzell three-blade if you need it. Quote
Cody Stallings Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 It's a starter riggear plate I think. Unless you have something changed when you went with the J hood...... We have a couple at the shop yellow tagged Quote
kerry Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 I have a # 835-20 spinner with bulkhead. You can PM me if it's the one you need. Quote
FloridaMan Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 Holy hell; how the heck did you find one so quickly!? Here's the bad news on that bulkhead: they are nearly impossible to find. The replacement option is $2500 from Hartzell and is mounted to the back of the hub. I would make sure the cheek plates aren't cracked as well and that the bulkhead has the doublers installed (I think there are 8 of them, each has two bolts through it and reinforces the attachment to the bulkhead). Whatever you do, make sure that whoever installs it knows what they're doing or it WILL crack again. I would recommend getting your prop balanced and make sure that the spinner fits very tightly around the hub. I have also heard that the spinner/bulkhead combination are matched pairs and that it's a good idea to keep the matching spinner with the bulkhead. Quote
slowflyin Posted August 4, 2014 Author Report Posted August 4, 2014 I got some great advice from Cody here on the forum and replaced the entire assembly with a Hartzell replacement. Turns out the mooney ring gear adapter I had was for a McCauley and had been modified. It failed at the mod! bit the bullet and fixed it legally and properly. Ouch! I'll put the old dome on ebay or have the bulkhead repaired and sell the whole assembly. Still deciding. Quote
