moodychief Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 Left Saint Louis this morning heading for Oshkosh. Stopped in Rochelle, IL for fuel. They have a restaurant on the field open 11:00 am - 10:00 pm over the weekend. It is not just a burger joint. My wife had pan seared fish tacos and I had grilled chicken Caesar salad. Refueled and stuffed, only 120 more miles to go. We hIghly recommend this stop. 2 Quote
mooney389 Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 It's a nice place. You can watch sky divers while having lunch. Make sure you monitor the Unicom for jumpers. Also updated charts are a must because they have a new discreet frequency. Quote
wiguy Posted July 25, 2014 Report Posted July 25, 2014 Sounds like you beat the rain that is moving in today. Quote
aviatoreb Posted July 26, 2014 Report Posted July 26, 2014 I flew from Boulder Colorado to home Potsdam NY today. I stopped in Iowa. The lineman assumed I was heading to KOSH. Then while I was there for all of 15 minutes 6 Bonanzas in formation flew in and stopped for fuel. Then some RV's stopped for fuel. Seems like a Mecca crossing the country. Meanwhile I flew right past KOSH and forgot to stop. :-( Maybe next year. Quote
wiguy Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 That would be hard to do, flying by KOSH and not stopping for the day. Quote
aviatoreb Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 That would be hard to do, flying by KOSH and not stopping for the day. It was hard. I think I was the only small plane within 100 miles not sucked into the gravitational field of the great KOSH star. 1 Quote
