RobertGary1 Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 What happened to your factory new engine? Im surprised it would wear everything out. When they disassemble in flight they quickly beat everything to death. It doesn't take much to take chunks out of the crank/cam. Of course the case shatters, etc. And the pistons end up freezing in the cylinders once the oil stops moving around. But none of this happens before it throws metal through your prop and oil cooler. Happy days. -Robert
garytex Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Jetdriven Glad to hear you got your 25 degrees back. I think that is an irreplaceable part of why this engine makes so much power out of so little gas at altitude and especially LOP. Gary
jetdriven Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Its a huge component. 20 degrees timing ruins these engines. It basically wont run LOP, at peak EGT, the airplane slows down so much it loses 5-7 knots.
