Andy95W
I didn't really find any performance gains over my old Hartzell AD prop. Seems like I have a longer take off roll with the top prop. It is quieter. Especially on the ground while taxiing. I was shopping around for props for awhile and finding non AD props OH'd for $6500. I figured it was best to pay $7800 for a new prop. The prop is pretty with it's composite spinner. I wouldn't upgrade if your old prop works fine. I would have been just as happy with my old prop if it could of been OH'd. Great write-up, thank you. Best information I've gotten about the Top Prop.
Ron McBride
Yes it is KSBP. Golden State Propeller Eric 805 544-8356. Eric has done 3 or 4 ECI inspections for me. About a $100.00 last year. He does it in about an hour. Taxi up in front of his shop, the old fire station, He pulls the spinner, does the inspection, puts the spinner back on. You can walk to the local restaurant or watch. So far pain less. I am not affiliated in any way with this shop. It is about an hour flying for me, or Stockton about 30 minutes. JKJacobiSr
My propeller is due for the AD driven eddy current inspection. Does anyone have any experience with shops capable of performing this in the central Ohio area? A couple people have mentioned the prop shop at Aircraft Specialists in Sellersburg, Indiana. They will do the inspection for $325. Does anyone have any experience with them? Thanks I have used ASI for prop and Gov work and have been very satisfied. bonal
Took the day off and flew down to,San Luis Obispo to visit Eric at Golden state propellor today for the ECI. Had a real nice flight a real nice lunch and a real nice inspection. He charged us 120.00 about 230.00 les than last time. We used about 18 gallons more in fuel so we saved about 110.00 and I got to fly an extra 2 hours. That is a win win and I'm good for another 100hrs. The trip home average about 145kph at 8500 yippee!!!

bonal
130 to 135 indicated knots gave us 145 knots on the GPS at 8500 with MP at 23 about 1 down from WOT. And our new tempest plugs seemed smoother and gave better climb power than the old Champions.
garyoporter
i know this is an old topic but im new to the sight and am dealing with this now and thought id fill you all in. hartzell is still charging $200 and if the prop is over 5 yrs old they wont touch it unless to over haul. i hve a 67 m20f that i love. based out of i68. lebanon ohio. if theres a fly in for mooneys in the area, im game. does anyone have any other shops around the tristate that do the checks? pretty sure castle air in akron does because they are great with mooneys but was looking for something closer. tiffon would be ok, just checking. Hawth200
Gary, I ended up using Tiffin Aire. They took care of me with no issues. The total price was around $300 if I remember correctly. Overall I would recommend them.
