slowflyin Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 If this has been covered please redirect me. I searched with no luck. I was reading the approach settings in the MAPA manual and noticed it recommends 25" of MP for cruise climb and missed approach procedures. (M20F) It was my understanding FT was the common practice. Hank Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 I use WOT & Full RPM for all climbs. Cruise climbs are generally at higher airspeed, ~115-120 mph. The power charts are the one area that MAPA did a less-than-stellar job on. They were created from a single year [usually the first] for each model; for my C, all of the speeds were changed sometime between the 1963 model shown in the book and my 1970 Owner's Manual. Take a buddy, go to the practice area and figure out your own best speeds. The buddy can write them down for you, along with which phase of flight each is for. I tried doing this solo, and it's really tough, a second person is much better. Do follow their MP + RPM formula for power though. It correlates pretty well to what is in my book. 1 Quote
slowflyin Posted June 22, 2014 Author Report Posted June 22, 2014 I too use wot for climbs. Actually I use wot until I need to slow down. Reading they recommended 25" MP for a go around on the missed is what got my attention. Just making sure I hadn't missed a limitation for the A1A in my F. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
