The flight will be an attempt for a FAI world record non stop and no refueling on the distance CANNES (LFMD) France to TEL-AVIV (LLBG) Israël, with a Mooney M20 J, standard configuration, with Monroy tanks, 98 USD total fuel on board. The IFR route is 1510 Nm and the theoretical range of the aircraft if 1650 Nm, so not much than we need, no consideration of the wind, rerouting, etc. The departure will be from CANNES, during EURAVIA Airshow (http://www.eur-avia.com/index.php?lang=en) and French AOPA Assembly and the arrival be during the opening of the World IAOPA Assembly (http://www.ortra.com/iaopa/) held at Tel-Aviv. Here is the update from Gilles: Wonderful flight of 9 h 58, average speed of 153 kt, distance of 1530 Nm from LFMD to LLSD, and only 85 USG used. Pictures to follow. Way to go! Quote
