yvesg Posted February 23, 2014 Author Report Posted February 23, 2014 Yup! You see my bird parked at the beginning of the video. All pilots and passengers had free meal (chilli and beans etc.) . The turnout was low due to rough, gusty winds but we had about 15 airplanes and 4 helicopters. For the second half of the fly-in, the wind turned to 90 degrees crosswind which was OK for me ln the take-off. Yves 1 Quote
BorealOne Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Nice - I've always wanted to fly into Mo's. Always been in the wrong part of the country for it though. Quote
aviatoreb Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Cannot get more slippery than this... Yves  Wow - I forgot about that - luckily I got home Friday evening ... luckily since as it turned out we had some ferocious winds yesterday ... as high as 35G49 which would have been a no go for me to fly into my asphalt runway (which was clear) even if that is down the runway - we are so close to you - what were the winds there yesterday?  On ice no less.  Did they sand after all?  Sure looks like fun though.  :-) Quote
yvesg Posted February 24, 2014 Author Report Posted February 24, 2014 If I recall right winds were 20G28 and slowly moved from easterly to southerly during the day making it 90 degrees crosswind at some point. Conditions were more an issue up in the air, it was pretty rough up there. As I would approach the landing things would settle a bit. The runway has been sanded but kind of lightly. If they would sand too much, the dark color of sand would accentuate the thaw cycle. I took about 2000 feet to land but they had 3200 feet so all was fine. Another Mooney came later during the day.
