  1. Is it about a half inch round? If so, it is a sump drain. Have you ever drained fuel out of it? If not, go ahead and use the sump fuel tester with your fuel sump tester. It is spring loaded just like the fuel sumps. Maybe a piece of junk got caught in it. If you are talking about the threaded valve, then I think you have an issue to deal with.
  2. Betcha Stinky Bug is smaller than a Bed Bug!
  3. We prefer to call ourselves the Mid-Atlanticers.... Stinky Pants rules!
  4. Well, we'll keep this little secret for you. Don't think there is a Mooney owner that hasn't done something similar.
  5. I know John (Collins) is on an advisory board with the FAA pertaining to ADS-B. Has he indicated that the FAA will bend even a little on this? All the rhetoric I have heard from them was there was no compromising on the dates nor the compliance methods.
  6. Short one that is probably still rendering of You Tube...
  7. Nice video. I love my Aspen 2000.
  8. Джо мәселе неде? Ағылшын, бірақ ештеңе айтуға емес пе? [emoji12]
  9. I have never seen anything documented but heard this as far back as my first Mooney Homecoming in the early 1990s. It was told as part of talk on the origin of Mooneys. I have however seen the picture with a number of Mooney employees standing on the wing.
  10. To answer the original question; simple, a much cheaper cost of ownership. They want to know why aviation is dying? We raised smart kids. Us on the other hand, we're not so smart. Who else is dumb enough to spend $100 on rubber donuts? The truth in the matter is that the FAA has created so much oversight and bureaucracy that it will become a self filling prophecy and they will have no one left to rule over other than themselves.
  11. - just want to thank you again. This time publicly. The tray it's awesome!
  12. I can't comment on what the AP is doing but what Piloto is talking about is the yoke binding at the spot it goes into the panel. There is a guide there and it will bind periodically. Like him, I have used silicone to free it up. His other comment about the alternate static may not play a role if the pitch information is obtained through the AI as Alan is indicating. If however, the AP uses static pressure to set pitch or hold altitude (like my STEC), then I would definitely check it. My alternate static port valve had a leak in this year caused by a deteriorating O ring.
  13. A fatty discussion! I have weighed over 290 twice in my life. And in both cases, my cholesterol level never got above 180. That said, both times (and my current situation) after losing the weight my cholesterol dropped to the 150 range with exercise and diet. So, I think you can influence it a little but if you are prone to high cholesterol, I think you are stuck with it.
  14. Don -- I have it on the Garmin Pilot but do not have the GDL-39 unit with the AHRS. Like Dave has indicated, you won't get the bank information but it will show the terrain. I'm picking my plane up tomorrow and will try to remember to video tape it in flight. Here is what it looks like on the ground. I don't have SVT on my Aspens but do have current terrain and obstacle databases. When I depart an unfamiliar airport, I find the obstacle and terrain awareness pretty handy in hilly areas or where there may be obstacles on the departure (like windmills).
  15. Thanks for the update. I decided to hold off on the FreeFlight until things settle out a bit. Please let us know the final outcome.
  16. Put the N number in on this site: http://www.aviationdb.com/Aviation/AircraftQuery.shtm Sometimes more details about the history can be found.
  17. Dan -- since you fly the flight levels, I would check out the Guardian stuff. You can add the pulse oxygen function to the CO detector and have it all panel mounted.
  18. Another big difference between home use detectors and those specific for aviation is the detection limit. Most of the home use units are able only to get down to 50 ppm levels before triggering. Aviation specific units routinely are in the single digit detection levels.
  19. Bob -- I'm a Garmin Pilot user as well. Most of the pertinent NOTAM information for your departure and destination can be found in the "Terminal Weather" section of the briefing section. Does a pretty good job of the important ones. Much easier than going through the pages of NOTAM.
  20. And even on a CAVU day, I find the apps (Garmin Pilot, Fore Flight, Wings, etc.) are an easy mechanism to have your briefing on record.
  21. I would be surprised if it is lost forever. Not with the tracking they have today. My guess is that it is sitting in the receiving area of the prop shop. If it is truly lost, then all depends on the insurance bought. Hopefully enough to cover the true replacement value.
  22. Robert -- this is exactly how mine failed. The mechanics replaced it with a Precise Flight unit.
