I am one of those crazy people like Bob who has upgraded a vintage Mooney to a modern state. To answer your question, what you are getting other than a WELL maintained plane is a plane that has a couple more things going for it. Specifically, he has several things in the plane that add value that you may not be considering. Here are a few I know about: 1) Bob has a 930 in the plane. That unit will run you around $10k installed. 2) Bob has an Aspen PFD (~$10k installed). 3) Bob has a fresh paint job (~$14k). Take a look at the nose strut on the plane you posted and then look at Bob's. 4) Bob has a modern audio panel (~$4k installed). 5) Bob has a fresher interior (~$5k to $10k difference depending on how far you want to upgrade the plane you posted). Take a close look at the seats. That's $4k to $5k to have a decent avionics shop reupholster them. Not taking anything away from the Mooney you posted. I think it is probably priced about right but it is a stage behind Bob's in terms of modernization. The key areas to look at beyond the avionics are the health of the engine and the airframe itself. I'm not just a vintage Mooney owner, I am a preserver as well. There is a lot to be said about the pain and suffering to modernize a plane. Bob has endured that and it really bothers me to see him selling at this time.

Edm900 fuel alarm driving me batty
Marauder replied to ragedracer1977's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
There are two fuel quantity warnings. One is the amount of fuel used and the other is a pre-alarm. I suspect your pre-alarm is set for 6 and it will alarm if either tank is at that level. Follow the programming instructions and look for the circled item. Click yes and check to see what it is set for. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro -
Aspen 1000 - Intermittent Glide Slope Indication!
Marauder replied to N205S's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
I have been flying behind an Aspen setup for the past 8 years with a GTN navigator. Never encountered what you are seeing. If your navigator is not indicating a LOI (Loss of Integrity) status and you are seeing LPV throughout the process, it may be some anomaly with that approach itself (unlikely) or more likely a glitch either in communication between the IFD and the Aspen or possibly the current IFD data has an error. Another thing to check. A lot of people don't check the error summary for a current database download. Instead of sending out a new database download, the error summary may indicate if a particular approach has a change or other anomaly that wasn't caught when they dispatched the database download. I would check that along with the NOTAM for the airport to make sure it isn't one of these corner cases where the glide slope may be affected in some fashion. Once I did have a legitimate LOI on an RNAV (LPV) approach after passing the FAF. I lost all GPS signal and was greeted with the LOI and a message to use another nav source. Fortunately I had the ILS running on the second HSI. -
To remove the handle, you pull apart the ring by pulling on each side of the ring around the pin. The ring is a split ring. You just squeeze it back together again when you line up the ends into the pin's hole.

To be fair to the original poster, he may have the ability to drain the sump from underneath. This is what I do instead of pulling the pin from above.

Part of the discussion over any approach to a pandemic is an understanding of the very type of factors you mention. Sweden is a population of 10.1 million living on 158,430 sq. miles of land. New York City has a population of 8,398,748 on 306.2 sq. miles. Throw in the surrounding NY metro areas (Long Island, counties across the river) you are looking at 10 million people living on 3,450 sq. miles. By design, Sweden has some social isolationism though Stockholm has 1.56 million citizens and Gothenburg has roughly 0.5M citizens. What would Sweden's situation look like if they were all packed into Stockholm? If you compare Austria which is under lock down with Sweden, Austria's population is a little over 9M and resides on a land mass of 32,386 sq. miles, you will see they both have roughly the same number of infected (~14,700) but Austria has only 470 deaths to Sweden's 1580. The death difference could be related to age demographics and their healthcare systems. If Austria didn't lock down, what would the results look like? The point I am trying to make is that like you stated, there are a lot of factors that come into play (geography, population distribution, age demographics, genetic attributes, social customs (no I don't kiss Ross on the cheek when we see each other), robustness of the healthcare system, etc.) as well as a lot of unknowns about the virus itself. What works for one geography might not for another for a variety of reasons. I don't think there is any one expert who can say how to handle the pandemic. And that in itself is a problem. I spent a lot of time reading up on the flu epidemic of 1918 (I refuse to call it the Spanish Flu simply because if people read up on it, they would know why). One of the strangest things I learned was that media played a huge role in what happened. But not for the reasons you would think. And Seattle's experience during the Spring and Fall of 1918 is also an education. Old George has it right "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.'" The sad part about this situation is that we walked into a fight against an adversary that was better equipped than we were.

Here are some pictures of my failure of my 630053-511 Did a nice job of torching the plug. Interestingly only this riser is showing this kind of deterioration of the inner wall. The risers are all the same age. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

How to Join NJMP (NJ Mooney Pilots) for NorthEasterners

Actually we hope you do an event this summer. It would be nice to travel to somewhere else than our annual pilgrimage to Quakertown. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro -
Happen to know a little bit about this. My son is camping out at John Hopkins (may need to rescue him at one point since Amazon food delivery in Baltimore is lagging - big time). If you look at the sources section, you will notice that the typical sources are there WHO, CDC, etc. They also gather information from “other sources” like Twitter, news services releases, etc. When they discover new cases through one of those “other” sources, their practice is validate it through a validated source (local health department, CDC, etc.). So, there may be a lag from a news source and it being reported in the dashboard. Since I live in Delaware with Danb and 12 other people, it is pretty easy to see that the news reports of new cases precede the Hopkin’s dashboard by roughly a day or two. Their mechanism is explained here: https://systems.jhu.edu/research/public-health/ncov/ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

That graph is showing the onset not necessarily the number of actual cases (look at the footnote). When HCPs talk about the “curve”, they are looking at the confirmed cases. Those are known cases and have nothing to do with mortality. Here is China’s curve: I’d say we still have a ways to go to flatten the U.S. curve: Data is from 9:46 AM EST today. I don’t normally post anymore and if you read some of the threads on this site lately, you know why. I would like to give you a perspective from someone who manages people in Singapore, Spain, Denmark, Italy, China, the United States and few other places in this world. The reason China, Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea are fairing better is they have a disciplined culture. Of course some of that discipline is placed on them. But none the less, they took this situation seriously from the start and reacted accordingly. Taiwan was the role model in this pandemic but Singapore’s DEFCON approach also was solid. China is opening back up for business. I have an employee in Singapore who’s spouse is traveling to China for business. What discipline is applied? Upon arrival in China, they are sequestered, go through a medical screening and if okay, they are handed a barrier suite, mask, gloves and are bussed to a hotel where they are isolated for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks and they are clean, they can conduct business in China. Upon their return to Singapore they reverse the process. My employee is pleased they will see their spouse in 42 days. That is a discipline. Hell, in this country we can’t even get Hank to buy into ADS-B, how well do you think this discipline will be accepted by Americans? I was on a briefing last night on China. Wuhan’s Hubei is still locked down but other provinces are relaxing restrictions. Wuhan only reported 1 new case last week and it is expected their restrictions will be relaxed shortly. This is a country that has been in lockdown mode since before the beginning a year. They have flattened the curve but are standing on top of that curve. As for Italy comments, wow! The reason Northern Italy was hit hard was not only because of an elderly population (oldest population behind Japan) but because Northern Italy is a favorite ski resort for people all around the world. And by the time they recognized what was happening, it was already entrenched and soon overwhelmed the medical capacity. My Italian employee’s father is a physician. They certainly are not attributing all deaths to the virus, in fact they need to know the cause to help determine whether untested deaths are virus related. And for you, it’s a “normal flu” people. You don’t convert ice rinks to morgues in a “normal flu” season. This is a “novel” virus. There ain’t no cure (asked the guy who died taking chloroquine phosphate thinking it could ward off the virus). The best we can hope for is containment until we have good treatments and a vaccine (and let’s pray it doesn’t mutate too many times). And for you members of Darwin’s Club. Please, by all means, go out with Lt. Governor Patrick and get yourself infected. The rest of us monkeys will be watching from the trees. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

You do a stealth mission to Delaware and steal mine while I am hold up like a 1930s bank robber? Based on what I saw when I looked at mine, I wonder if it can be welded. It is a pretty small area, but the attachment is the area around the blue shaft. Also, can a small flat washer and screw drilled into the middle work? I’ll let the mechanical geniuses comment. I’m too busy counting my latest haul of toilet paper. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro -

The spring provides an over center pressure that keeps the lever outright when you flip it up. Can’t tell from your picture because it’s blurry, but it looks like the attachment point has sheared off of the blue inner shaft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

Mooney down over New Hall Pass • Los Angeles
Marauder replied to DustinNwind's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
I hate speculating and won’t here. But I do take exception to someone inferring that an Aspen or any other manufacturer product was involved. Way too early for that. I will say this about single pilot IFR in IMC. It’s the real deal. I have flown a ton of safety pilot flights and I can’t tell you the number of times I have seen pilots get significantly off course or off altitude on an approach with EVERYTHING working in the plane. And for some pilots it doesn’t take much of a distraction or a lack of attention for things to fall apart quickly. It has happened to all of us at one time or another. We’ve been the lucky ones to catch it before it evolves into something bad. Hopefully the NTSB will determine the cause and we learn from it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro- 90 replies
