  1. The fitting for your forward trunion is definitely gone. I had to use a small Allen wrench to remove the remainder of mine. It unscrewed easily, just needed to get something in there.
  2. Saw this on EBay while I was looking for something non-related. Not sure if it’s a candidate or not but figured I’d mention: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F273144342844
  3. I described these to Dan about two years ago and he knew exactly what I was talking about. $5 a piece if I remember correctly, removed from a salvage plane.
  4. My old tubes were similar and would rip on the back side where it is being stretched. I switched to Aero Classics with 90 degree stems to stop the tearing, but I can’t say they hold air very well. Have to add a few psi every 2-3 weeks it seems. Would be interested to know what others are using as well. For reference, here’s what I have now: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/lgpages/aero_tube_600_6_67a.php
  5. Possibly the best first post ever. Welcome and fly safe.
  6. Is the G1000 WAAS? If not I thought I heard those parts for upgrade are hard to come by but could be wrong. $$$
  7. https://awi-ami.com/ These guys did mine last annual. If I remember correctly we also had to send the 4 stacks so they cloud line everything up on the jig properly. Not sure about the tail pipe though.
  8. They rebuilt mine for about $170 a few years ago. Worth every penny, they’ve done it a few times.
  9. Replaced my green one with this, used part number printed on the old one: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/ms25041.php
  10. Previous owner kept the “Mark 21” scheme but with black around the windows. I like the compromise.
  11. I feel like most ground school courses just summarize/regurgitate what is already in the Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, Airplane Flying Handbook and FAR/AIM. Try the first few chapters of the digital (free!) PHAK and AFH and if it is easy for you, skip the full ground course and save a few hundred bucks.
  12. Shim article: http://donmaxwell.com/aligning-your-engine-using-shims/
  13. As mentioned it might depend on which tach you have. A previous owner installed a Horizon P1000 digital tach in my plane. Per the manual, real time (1:1) is recorded anytime RPMs are 800 and above. This is less than idle, so I record/log them exactly.
  14. I worked on 15s instead of 16s but it’s the same gun. Very long list of things would have to be done wrong or ignored for this to happen. We would even point the aircraft in a safe direction when loaded with live rounds, which sometimes required them to be moved to the opposite side of the airfield. WOW switch, safety pins pulled, hydro power, electrical power, cockpit switches positioned incorrectly...
  15. Done, thanks
  16. Paul- I’ve relocated from KARB to KMQY, can you adjust? Thanks-
  17. Only had to wait 10-15 minutes both times I flew in. That was before I actually relocated. I was staying nearby so I don’t know what the cost would be to get downtown.
  18. Dropped a set of keys off to them 9/28 after my airspeed indicator failed to come up during takeoff. Called after a week and they said they couldn’t get to it. The good news is that whatever crawled in has since crawled out of the pitot tube. I guess they are pretty busy.
  19. I’m based at MQY at the moment. Both Contour and Hollingshead have very nice facilities but I can’t speak to prices. Both very helpful though, can’t go wrong with either.
  20. Does it feel the same on the ground as it does in flight?
  21. It'll be packed on a holiday weekend like this of course, ramp space may be hard to come by. Worth it if you can get in though. Also the Mackinac Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic from 0600-1200 Monday morning, FYI.
  22. None installed before or after. Lowers could use at the small shims but we are happy with the improvement so far. Will consider adding them at annual.
