  1. I would make sure it was at least the week after Oshkosh just in case there are any new announcements from Garmin or Aspen.
  2. The two choices that people seem to be going with for certified engine instruments are the JPI930 https://www.jpinstruments.com/shop/edm-930-primary/ (the 900 is certified also but smaller screen) and the EI MVP50 http://buy-ei.com/portfolio/mvp-50p-overview/. I had a 2000 Ovation where the previous owner had put in Aspens and a JPI EDM 930. It was a very nice setup. After I bought it I replaced the Garmin 530W and 430W with an Avidyne IFD 540 and 440. I replaced the transponder with an Avidyne AXP340 to get ADS-B out.
  3. Not sure if you are thinking this direction, but if you are thinking about major panel surgery, wouldn't hurt to do a primary engine monitor at the same time. The Moritz gauges on your Ovation are just a matter of time . . . they start going one by one.
  4. I third that! 10.2 is a game changer for the IFD's . . especially if you have an IFD440 and an iPad - your screen area will go up exponentially
  5. The GTX335 deal was announced Friday 3/31 for $2995 with internal WAAS GPS and GOS antenna included.

  7. Just google "over torquing spark plug".
  8. I would trust your JPI - this is a hot running engine. Look for the simplest solution first - the cowl flaps. I flew a 231 for three years and in warmer months I always had to keep them partially open. Of course I'm in Texas. Cowl flaps were the last thing I did when setting up for cruise. If temps looked goos once my power and mixture were adjusted I'd see what it looked like with cowl flaps closed. I remember my mechanic later setting the "fully closed position" so that it would trail open and this worked out well. But I can't imagine in most cases keeping cowl flaps completely closed on the TSIO360-GB or -LB engine unless it was dead of winter up North. There is a lot packed under the small cowl on the K - cowl flaps are your friend. Later I had an Encore that had the -MB engine and most of the time in cruise I could keep the cowl flaps closed. It had the electric cowl flap motor which allowed for infinite adjustment, so if temps outside were higher I would open it a little and the temps would come down where I liked them.
  9. This was removed in working condition. 4 place intercom with music input capability. Excellent condition. Airplane always hangared. $100 plus $10 shipping.https://www.northernairborne.com/pdfs/i ... 4-0400.pdf
  10. This was removed in working condition. Excellent condition. Includes tray. Airplane always hangared. If you already have one installed this would make a great replacement or backup. $100 plus $10 shipping.
  11. Or I don't sleep
  12. Why is this still for sale on Barnstormers?
  13. i ended up with an extra Avidyne Transponder Avidyne AXP 340 transponder. Extended Squitter for 1090 ADS-B out. Working well when removed. Slide in replacement for King KT76A, KT76C. 30 day DOA guarantee. Comes with tray.
  14. That is correct - i just tried it out on a trip this week. It will push flight plans either way.
  15. I realize that - that wasn't my point. If someone takes a original J and does all that, to that level, they would have every bit of that into it. Where is it written that everyone that owns an airplane and sells it has to lose money on it? Values on primo example airplanes have nudged up in the past couple years.
  16. Try taking a J, doing all of the Dugosh airframe upgrades that were done during multiple annuals ($???), doing that panel ($50,000+), full Aero Comfort Interior ($15,000+), Tejas paint ($25,000+), and then doing then engine ($30,000+). . I'd be surprised if you didn't have every bit of that into it if you do it to this level.
  17. Lycoming TIO540AF1A or TIO540AF1B (Bravo) uses the HB (3/4") plugs. The 5/8" (EB) won't even screw into the spark plug hole. The guy selling them has an A36 Bonanza which has the Continental and they won't fit his engine.
  18. Make this guy an offer: https://www.beechtalk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=134453
  19. What did it cost for an OH and an A/p alignment?
  20. You might wait and see what Garmin's big announcement is next Friday (March 31). It might make a pre-g1000 airplane a lot more attractive if they have an approval to add the G3X to certified aircraft. I thought about a G1000 airplane but what scares me is that the avionics are part of the type certificate. Every avionics manufacturer pulls the plug on support for avionics at some point - when they do it on the G1000 you are stuck.
  21. I don't have it, but he may feel that if you only use it once and it gets you out of a life threatening situation you didn't intend to be in, it's paid for itself. Back on topic . . anyone know of a partnership in the Spokane area in a FIKI airplane?
  22. This began in 2006 with the Acclaim and has continued with Acclaims and Ovations built since then.
  23. Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.
