  1. Masoud Go to the PS engineering site and download the install manual for the 7000 m-s which will give you the check out procedures to verify all is working not to mention the wiring diagram. In addition you might borrow a different headset to see if that makes a difference. The stereo mono switch previously mentioned is a good possibility. You can check that easily by changing it on your Bose. I am assuming that the Sigtronics are only mono headsets. The ps 7000 can be easily modified to cure that issue if you want to keep the headsets but I've seen new off brand ANR headsets for as low as $200 ea.
  2. Years ago I made several visits to Tangiers Island. On the first vist I parked the plane and went into town with my wife and small son. After we checked into the hotel someone asked how we arrived? I said we flew at which point I was asked where I parked. Turns out the island is sinking an inch or so per year so that when the tide rises the part of the runway and parking area flooded. Opps a hurried retreat to the airport to move the plane. Just made it before the salt water did. Don't know if the runway was ever raised but watch the tides!!
  3. Comes out of the bottom in the J's I've had 78,79, 81 & 84
  4. That is Joe Gund who is based at Cape May. He put a factory reman. in that Rocket a couple of years ago. Glad he was not hurt. I'd suspect mechanical issues as he is a very experienced aviator.
  5. I saw a plane that was reprinted that looked great with the windows painted-No inserts necessary. Check out Peter's plane for the actual look. I did not realize the windows themselves had been painted.
  6. Since my factory probe is a digital display the G2 OAT was redundant so I just left it hooked up under the panal to give me inside temps near the radios so I can direct air if necessary.
  7. I've seen Peter's plane. The interior is as good or better than a factory new Ovation. He did a spectacular job at very little cost (relatively) certainly at a fraction of the 14K mentioned.
  8. Has anyone taken the AOPA airplane quiz? This is supposed to tell you what aircraft fits you best. I'm curious to see how many of us matched to Mooney. Maybe someone can put up a poll? I am approved for a 201. I wonder if there are any other Mooney models in the list.
  9. If all else is equal a hanger is the way to go but the key is being equal. I base at Atlantic City Int. with great approaches etc. but no T hangers. Ground personnel can help push plane or I use my robo tow. Common hanger only with a differance of $400/mo. My tie down comes with an electrical outlet so I can preheat. I have full covers for the A/C but they are a pain so I generally only use the extended cabin cover. I think it actually takes longer to tie the plane down than to put it into a T hanger like I used to have. Certainly takes longer than with a common hanger but I would worry about the ground personnel dinging the nose gear or causing hanger rash which the manager readily admits occurs occasionally. ACY is 20--25 min drive while next closet airport is double the drive but has T hangers with same cost differential but with much higher approache mins. and shorter runways. As much as I would like to be in a hanger it is not equal so I do the corrosion x and grit my teeth but every 5-7 years I get a new paint job if I like. LOL
  10. Well this sounds like it would be a great opportunity to reacquaint with one another so I'd definitely like to attend. W/E of the 3 rd is out for sure but otherwise looks good.
  11. If Mooney were to offer a zero timed airframe and engine together with a standardized avionics suite they would have a competitive market advantage over what is available now thru 3 rd party sources. Possibly upgrade all airframes to the latest version mfg. with new serial numbers. Price that product at 1/3 to 1/2 of a new Ovation perhaps limiting it to just J/K airframes together with some of the latest technological upgrades hinted at by Mooney like FDEC. Offer a one year warranty or more. Presell this option so that economies of scale would be effective without a factory commitment. Insist on 100 owners or potential owners are on board prior to starting the program. This would provide a safety net for the factory in setting up an assembly line.
  12. The Airspace from DC north will all be victor airways. It is often faster to use your VOR nav as opposed to your GPS unless you are really fast with the changes. If you pick a quiet time like Sun morning or maybe Sat. you will have more controller cooperation. Weekday's are tough and with weather really tough in terms of the controllers attitude. NY controllers speak fast and have no tolerance for long readbacks or bad pilot speak. You might consider an inland route west of Phila. and the Newark Bravo Do not go over the water at this time of the year unless you can absolutely glide to safety. Have fun It really isn't all that bad!!
  13. Well Docket We will miss your input but congrats on the new bird!
  14. What I was thinking regarding keeping the oil temp up was that it might impact the EGT's. That exhaust gas temp is what is used to heat the air that is drawn around the muffler and then driven into the cabin. So if one could increase the EGT and still remain in an acceptable range the air should be heated to a higher temp for the heater. But maybe warmer oil has no bearing on the EGT's only mixture.
  15. Sorry Paul I am not sure if that is the correct part but I would think a quick call to a MSC or even to a parts supplier with a cross reference might work.
  16. Have you checked to see if the winter plate used to cover the oil cooler is installed?
  17. Paul I'd check the factory probe 1st. located on the exhaust tube. Those things have a limited life so it may be bad. In addition if you have an engine monitor or add one like the Insight G2 it legally replaces the Moritz gauge for EGT/CHT. Any repair to the gauge is going to be expensive as there is nothing you can do.
  18. Several years ago I sent my Moritz gauge pkg with the fuel gauge & amps/volts back to Moritz Aerospace Inc for repair of the amp /volts. It was about $400 or so but I understand the aerospace assets were sold to a Fl. Company last year which I believe is Radiant Power Company. Give Moritz a call to see what they might suggest. I do know they indicated they were short on certain parts but were able to repair mine and replaced the light bulbs at the same time. 19. Put me in for the door seal.
  20. Having the runway lights in sight is not the same as having the runway in sight. However with the lights in sight you may legally descend another 100' below DH to enable you to verify the runway ie edge lights in sight and land. Without the runway in sight which at night means the edge lights you would go missed.
  21. At this rate I'd suspect Sun and Fun. I keep checking but no joy yet. Avidyne seems too be having an even worse case.
  22. back in the day Mooney produced the "Lean Machine" a 1987 or thereabouts M20J ie which was a stripped down 201 with lesser autopilot interior etc marketed to flight schools but today there is virtually no differance in price due to upgrades etc. similar to where many Eagles/Ovations are today but you are more likely to find an Eagle with the 310 STC than an Ovation of similar years that is because the upgrade for the Eagle was substantial ie higher gross wt's, speeds, and performance while less on the Ovation think 01/2 vs 03 "And....Eagle all the way. It will be lighter, much lighter, I've seen them with useful loads pushing 1150lb because of cheaper/lighter carpets, fabrics and much less sound proofing. Also, S-TEC 30 is bullet proof" Again the typical Eagle even with upgrades will have great useful load. Mine is 1122 lbs. You won't find many Ovations like that. I took three folks on a flight yesterday and me plus 70 gals of fuel and baggage. That gives you five hours of flight plus reserves LOP. With simpler systems one has less maintenance cost. In three years of flight I have had no repairs other than the typical initial purchase squalks, annuals, and oil changes. It doesn't get any better than that.
  23. Whatever happened to Galvin Flying Services located at Boeing Field? Weren't they an MSC? I know they were a Mooney dealer for years.
  24. Cris

    Baron 2

Wow Brett- Congradulations. Hope well see you and your new stead at an NJ Mooney fly in soon.
